Plovdiv is ready for the World Rowing Cup, which will take place from May 10th to May 12th at the Rowing Canal.

This is the first step in preparing the athletes for the qualifications for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

A large number of the contestants who will be in Plovdiv will also participate in the Olympic Games.

"We are very pleased with what we saw on the fastest rowing canal in the world - Plovdiv," said Matt Smith, FISA Executive Director.

"This is going to be the first start of the year. We do not know where we are and we have to set up our clocks. The organization is on a high level. We rely on skiff men - Kristian Vasilev and skiff women - Desislava Georgieva. We will also participate with some young athletes ". This was said by the chairman of the Bulgarian Rowing Federation Svilen Neykov.

"The Canal is perfectly ready for the World Cup, and it is very important to see if the competitors are prepared for the forthcoming European Championship in Lausanne and the World Championship in Linz, Austria," said FISA technical secretary Svetla Osekova.

So far we have not held a World Cup in Plovdiv. Since 2011, we have held major championships on our Canal and we are honored to organize a World Cup. Huge thanks to the municipality of Plovdiv for the great help that is given to us for the conduct of all these competitions and the continuous improvements they make to the canal, "said the chairman of the organizing committee Ivan Popov.
